The Ballings Mallard was originally meant to be a personal vessel for a Coalition politician, it would not come to be as the politician was killed by a Separatist assassin. The submarine was unfinished at the time so the incomplete submarine would be sent to auction. Howard Balling would purchase the unfinished sub and convert it to a long range scouting ship. The submarine is fit with most comforts the crew could want on a long journey including a well stocked dive bar with an unmatched view of Europan wildlife.
